Blessings! I have been blessed to me some amazing women from our church that have become great friends. We met at retreat at church and after that we formed a book club and have been meeting for over a year. Last night we met for great discussion, drinks, and snacks. It is something about getting with this group of women that brings forth great conversation and lots of laughter. They truly are a wonderful group of women who made me a better person and stronger Christian.
As a group we have read many books together. Not only do we read and discuss books but sometimes we discuss scripture, current news/religious topics, and the weekly mass readings. Two of the women in the group gave us all a devotional for Christmas. Jesus Calling by Sarah Young I would HIGHLY recommend this devotional. It is a great way to start your day. The readings are worded in a way that it feels as if Jesus is talking directly to you. There is also a children’s version that is the same format, but worded in a way for children to understand. What a powerful thing to read, discuss, and share with your children.
Challenge! I already know the next book we are reading is going to be a challenge for me, but I am up for it. A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers is our next book. (The novel is set in the Roman Empire of the 1st Century) Francine is a popular Christian author. Her stories are filled with a lot of history.Another fantastic read by Francine is Redeeming Love.
Let’s get reading!
