Boy did the long weekend come and go quickly! It was a good but busy weekend. I spend most of the weekend running around..literaly.
We had our first XC meet on Saturday. It started out to be a great morning to race, but soon the rain rolled in ending the meet sooner than expected. Overall, the runners did great! The varsity boys and girls placed 6th, Freshman/sophomore boys 5th, and Freshman/Sophomore girls 2nd. The JV races were cancelled because of the rain.
Then Bob and I traveled home to see our family and celebrate Tim’s 40th birthday! It was nice to see everyone and his aunt Doc even flew in from Vegas!
Monday- Labor Day! The XC team ran the Run With Carl road race. It is a race that is a memorial for Carl D. Schillig who lost his life in a pedestrian/car accident when he was 15. The memorial fund and sponsors provide four scholarships to students from Bettendorf and PV. It was a beautiful fall morning for the race. It was so fun to see so many people out running. I enjoyed running and chatting with some of the girls throughout the race. After running 5 miles I was so excited to see that Starbucks sponsored the race- Who doesn’t like FREE coffee!
One thing I am really looking forward to doing this fall….. Visiting an apple orchard!!!! Yay!
Question: What are you most looking forward to this fall?
